The Central Bank of Sri Lanka publishes one figure - the world ounce in rupees. Every other row below is that figure divided out and multiplied by karat over twenty-four.
The pawn of eight grams is the unit Sri Lankan shops and pawnbrokers quote, and the ounce price divided out gives you the reference for it.
The last two weeks of business days show whether the reference has been rising or falling, and that the move can come from gold or from the rupee.
The reference set beside the world metal at today’s rupee tells you whether the bank’s figure is in line with the international price.

A contract on gold, different from a pawn
If you want exposure to the gold price without weighing or storing metal, a contract for difference with an international broker settles in your account’s currency and delivers nothing physical. It is a different risk from buying a pawn.
