The terms on which these pages are read
This page sets out what Pawn Board is, what it measures, what it cannot do, and how it earns. It is written so that a reader can decide whether to rely on the figures published here.
What the desk does
The Pawn Board editorial desk is an independent desk. It is not a broker, not an exchange, not a licensed adviser, and it holds no client money. Its subject is one measurement: the world ounce in rupees, as published by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. That figure is divided out and multiplied by karat over twenty-four, and the results are republished with the date and the hour they were read.
The sources are named under every table, with a link, so a reader can check the figure at its publisher. The desk reads the Central Bank's published figure, records the time it was read, and shows the arithmetic that turns that single number into the rows below. The desk does not trade, does not hold gold, and does not accept orders.
What the desk cannot answer
Nothing on this site is investment advice, a recommendation or an offer. The figures describe what things cost, not what a reader should do. A reader who asks whether to buy, sell or hold gold is asking a question this desk cannot answer, because answering it would turn a measurement into advice, and the desk is not licensed to give advice.
The desk also cannot answer questions about a reader's own transaction. It does not know what a particular pawnbroker or bank charged, and it cannot check a receipt. The desk's only subject is the published rate and the arithmetic that follows from it. Anything beyond that is outside the desk's competence.
How the site earns
The site links to one broker, FxPro, through an affiliate link, and is paid a commission if a reader opens an account there. The reader pays nothing to this site and nothing extra at the broker. This is the only affiliate relationship on the site, and it is stated in full on the page about the publisher and on this page.
The broker's own site is operated by someone else, under its own terms and its own privacy policy, and following the link leaves this site. The desk does not control the broker's site, does not see the reader's account there, and does not receive any information about a reader from the broker beyond whether a commission is due.
Responsibility and corrections
Responsibility sits with the publication's editorial desk: Pawn Board editorial desk. The desk reads the Central Bank's published figure, republishes it with the time it was read, and answers corrections. Writing to the address on the contact page reaches the desk. Corrections are the reason the address exists: a figure that is wrong is corrected and the correction is dated.
The site has no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no comment form. It sets no cookie of its own, runs no analytics and stores nothing in the reader's browser. The pages are served by a hosting provider which, like any web host, keeps its own technical request logs; the site's publisher does not read a reader's personal data out of them.
